Southern Flinders Ranges

The Southern Flinders Ranges is a ‘remarkable’ region, just two and a half hours north of Adelaide.

The region includes the towns of Crystal Brook, Gladstone, Laura, Wirrabara, Melrose, Booleroo Centre, Wilmington and the regional city of Port Pirie. The Tastes of the Southern Flinders Ranges food group was incorporated in June 2004, and has members spanning the above regions, as well as from the more northern towns of Orroroo and Quorn.

The region’s Mediterranean climate is perfect for producing a wide variety of products including stone fruits, vegetables, olives, pistachios, grain crops, sheep, rabbits and buffalo. The number of value added products of the region is growing rapidly, including sparkling honey nectar and ginger drinks, infused olive oils and gourmet condiments produced using locally grown fruits and vegetables.

The Southern Flinders Ranges Food and Wine trail was launched in early 2004, and is a great way to explore the variety of food and wine products in the region.

So come and visit the truly ‘Remarkable’ people and places of the Southern Flinders Ranges.
