The South Australian Food Centre is staging a series of Business Growth Workshops that may be the key to helping your business.

Want to learn how to research your target market on a shoe-string budget? Or know whether wastewater is a drain on your profits? Or how to cost your product and improve profitability?

These are just some of the topics on offer through the SA Food Centre’s Business Growth Series workshops, beginning in June.

The Business Growth Series workshops provide an opportunity for the food industry, government and industry providers to come together to learn and share ideas around a theme or topic pertinent to the South Australian food industry.

"An integral part of the SA Food Centre’s charter is to help equip those involved in the food industry with the information and tools they need to prepare for the future. In doing so, the industry can foster a culture of growth and innovation."

Held every two months, the workshops will follow a similar format that includes guest speakers with specific expertise, followed by informal presentations, questions and answers and networking. Information about current SA Food Centre programs will also be communicated through the workshops.

Waste water - a drain on your profits

This seminar is designed to ensure that food businesses will be made aware of the changes and what the new charges will be. It will also look at practical ways that businesses can and have been able to reduce their costs.

Date       24 June 2009
Time       4pm - 6pm - followed by networking     refreshments
Venue
South Australian Food Centre, Regency International Centre, TAFE SA,
Days Road (main entrance), Regency Park.

SA Water will be increasing trade waste charges from 1 July 2009. Trade waste is generally defined as the liquid waste from any industry, business, trade or manufacturing premises, other than domestic sewage.

A number of food businesses who were not previously charged for trade waste will now be charged as regulations become stricter. Existing charges will also increase, and many businesses currently paying trade waste charges will have their fees increased substantially.

Other Growth Series workshops to be held in coming months include:

  • Practical market research on a shoe-string budget
  • Working with supermarkets
  • Costing your product and improving profitability
