With Eyre Peninsula accounting for 91% of South Australia's aquaculture production it was no surprise, that for the fourth year running, the Eyre Peninsula Regional Development Board hosted another successful seafood mission. Aimed at interstate chefs, distributors and media, the group including Shannon Bennett, Vue de monde and Massimo Mele, Hugo’s Lounge, provided the dual opportunity for the producers to showcase their processes and products whilst providing an unforgettable experience for the visitors. The three day itinerary included mussel processing, a first-ever tuna harvest as well as tuna and kingfish processing, oysters and sardines. The experience that the group receives (including swimming with tuna for two of the chefs!) is invaluable in promoting the Eyre Peninsula as the premium seafood region in Australia.
