Stategic Plan for the South Australian Citrus Industry

Citrus

SACIDB will lead in development and implementation of strategies that underpin the integrity of the State’s citrus production, processing and marketing industry, adding to the regional industry’s competitive advantage, resulting in a more sustainable supply chain and contributing to a better industry bottom line.

It will do this by leveraging efforts through national structures to best use existing resources to see:

  • The Riverland region remaining the benchmark citrus production region in Australia, whilst working alongside other regions in meeting national and export market opportunities and challenges.
  • A strong emphasis on increasing the unit value that is achieved in citrus returns to growers, packers and marketers by coordinating marketing efforts within a competitive food industry environment.
  • Improving competitiveness of the SA Citrus value chain by maximising the quality, consistency and integrity of our product.
  • Increasing integration of businesses along the citrus chain through better business relationships and the sharing of knowledge.
  • Ongoing adoption of better business and technical practices.
  • An industry working together in taking primary responsibility for managing risks that challenge regional productive capacity, produce quality and integrity and markets.
