South Australian Regional ScoreCards

Regional ScoreCards present information to assist with developing our understanding of how South Australia’s food and beverage industries contribute to our regional economies. The ScoreCard information can also help to identify existing and emerging regional production capabilities and opportunities.

Regional agriculture, food and beverage industry contributions are estimated by way of a proportional distribution of the South Australian State ScoreCard agriculture industry sector production data to the State’s Regional Development Board regions, based on 2001 ABS Census data.

The 2005-06 Regional ScoreCard reports are desktop updates linked to the outcomes of an in-depth, on-the-ground research process undertaken to set up the original ScoreCards and produce the original reports in 2002.

Desktop level updates use the same regional allocation formulas applied in the baseline reports. This means that structural changes in the distribution of production and value generation within and between regions since the baseline year may not be fully represented in these most recent reports.

PIRSA plans to undertake a partnership project in 2007/08 to develop new baseline Regional ScoreCards, using the 2006 ABS Census and Agricultural Census data and aligning with the South Australian regional boundaries recently established by the SA Government Reform Commission.
