South Australian food businesses will soon have access to the latest market intelligence through the appointment of Matthew Palmer to PIRSA Agriculture, Food and Wine.
Matthew has joined the team as Senior Market Analyst, part of the new Market Intelligence function developed under the South Australian Food Plan 2007-2010.
His role is to identify international market opportunities and trends, undertake strategic analysis for government and industry by focussing on supply, product development, innovation, and capability development opportunities for the South Australian food industry.
"One of my first projects is to look at the ‘big picture’ of where South Australia is currently exporting food products and how we are performing in international markets," says Matthew.
"I will be identifying both the market opportunities and challenges for the industry and importantly sharing these findings to help the industry grow".
Previously Matthew worked at SARDI, investigating post harvest supply chain issues for the horticulture industry and at the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) in freight and shipping policy.
