Italy - the land of sun, wine, food and fairs - was the perfect backdrop to showcase South Australian produce at the recent Fiera del Levante trade fair.
Fiera del Levante is the largest fair in Italy, attracting in excess of one million visitors over ten days.
South Australia had its own stand at the fair, thanks to the Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) and the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on behalf of the South Australian government.
Food Adelaide was charged with the task of creating a state showcase of food and beverage products as part of the overall South Australian stand.
The Food Adelaide showcase featured food and beverage products from more than 30 South Australian producers, including Food Service Solutions, Baylies of Strathalbyn, Coopers Brewery, Ferguson Australia and Nardone Baker Wines.
Food Adelaide Executive Director Des King said the showcase met the primary objective of creating awareness with Italian consumers of our state’s innovative and varied food and beverage products.
“We had a constant flow of consumers visit the stand and we were able to provide them with further information on specific products and to generate trade interest.”
Food Adelaide works with importers, wholesalers, retailers and suppliers to develop overseas market opportunities by:
• Identifying proven suppliers of products for international buyers.
• Arranging business connections with suppliers of relevant products.
• Providing ongoing in-market support - for example, in-market promotions and consolidation of orders for shipment.
