Businesses including Beerenberg, Bickford's Australia, Coopers Brewery, Tuckers Natural,Ingerson Citrus, Australian Quality Plus and Swanport Harvest rubbed shoulders with visitors and trade buyers from around the world. "I like Food and Hotel Asia because all the right people are there. It is a well organised event and we always return with very positive feedback, good business connections and improved relationships."
Food and Hotel Asia is a significant industry event in the Singapore market, with the 2008 event attracting more than 39,000 visitors from over 98 countries. Singapore is a major market for imported foods and beverages, with a sophisticated consumer culture, high demand for branded and value added products and highly developed retail and catering industries. The SA pavilion featured more than 30 exhibitors, including Food Adelaide's 54 sqm display of SA products. Through this facility, members and other SA businesses were able to include their products in the Food Adelaide stand as part of the broader Australian pavilion. The format included promoting SA businesses, identifying opportunities and undertaking tastings of products.
Bonnie Steel, Project Manager for Food Adelaide, said Food and Hotel Asia offers an excellent platform for showcasing a range of products from smaller food businesses to well established exporters.
"It provides a unique and extremely valuable opportunity to observe international trends and connect with decisionmakers in international markets."
Bonnie said buyers had been particularly impressed by the quality and range of products at the 2008 event,
"South Australia's stand showcased a diverse and extensive range of goods illustrating our ability to produce the best. It attracted interest from importers and buyers throughout Asia and globally," she said.
Asia's seven specialised events encompassed all the significant sectors of the food and hospitality industry, each individually tailored for the increasingly sophisticated needs of the food, drinks and hospitality industry.
