Flavour SA is on a mission to help SA food businesses grow their reputation interstate.
Flavour SA will be partnering with PIRSA to deliver the Interstate Market Development program as part of the Market Development program under the South Australian Food Plan 2007-2010.
Flavour SA's role will include:
Catherine Barnett, the Executive Officer of Flavour SA, said the Interstate Market Development program represents an ideal opportunity for SA businesses to increase distribution in interstate markets.
"The latest SA Food Scorecard shows a growth in interstate markets and our program will capitalise on that growth."
She said it was the first time a comprehensive and holistic market development program had been developed.
"In the past we’ve had some great initiatives, but they’ve always been ad-hoc. Now we have an 18 month program where there’s an opportunity for food businesses at any stage of their growth to participate with a view to growing their business."
Catherine said domestic markets have been identified as an area of high growth, and programs such as this would maximise the potential of South Australian food businesses.
"It’s a great opportunity for South Australian food businesses to participate in a program that will grow their business."
The domestic contract has been awarded in partnership with PIRSA and the two organisations will work closely together to get the best outcomes possible for the SA food industry.
Justin Ross, General Manager of PIRSA Market Development, said Flavour SA was the ideal organisation for the job.
"They were chosen because they are the representative body of small to medium enterprises in the SA food industry and have a proven ability to deliver programs such as Fine Food Australia and Solupak."
