Testing, tasting and marketing – it’s all part of a new world-class food centre . .. And it’s right here in Adelaide.
Launched by Premier Mike Rann, the South Australian Food Centre is Australia’s first hub of expertise for food businesses.
It offers the latest in food technology and business innovation … and is based at the TAFE SA’s Regency International Centre.
There you’ll find advice from top experts and access to the best equipment to undertake product testing and development.
Richard Heyneman: “It’s the only centre in Australia that provides a fully integrated range of services to the food industry and they include business services, market services, and technical services – including product development, sensory evaluation and product testing.”
The SA Food Centre has been developed by the South Australian government and industry. And by working together, it’s aim is to help businesses grow and develop.
Richard Heyneman: “We hope to build on that in the future, to bring in other services from private providers, research providers from around the state and access to interstate and overseas expertise.”
And the facilities at the SA Food Centre are first class. There’s laboratories for product testing, a brew room, cheese making room and the latest in packaging technologies.
South Australia’s food industry provides more than $10 billion to the economy and totals 40 percent of the state’s exports.
And with the help of this Centre and the SA Food Plan, the aim is to boost that further by eight percent each year by 2010.
The South Australian Food Centre is a collaborative partnership between industry and government and has been established to grow a thriving and sustainable South Australian food industry through activities of the SA Food Strategy 2010-2015.
