South Australia’s food innovators can now access a unique facility to help grow their business.
More than 300 SA food businesses have already tapped into the expertise on offer, seeking assistance on a wide range of issues such as marketing advice, food safety, business management, technical issues and identifying skills shortages. Several businesses are engaging food technologists in specific projects such as product development and shelf life testing.
Opened by Premier Mike Rann in September 2008 and based at the Regency International Centre TAFE SA, the SA Food Centre is the first stop for the food industry, offering advice on areas such as research, food science, packaging, marketing and product development.
The SA Food Centre brings together the resources and expertise of key government and industry providers. From practical advice and workshops through to innovative scientific advances and packaging solutions, it has every business need covered.
Your business can connect to a range of food technologists, industry experts and scientists who can assist to develop better business systems, processes and technical capacity to respond to market and consumer demands.
A wide range of help is just a phone call away. Questions such as - “how can I increase my sales?”, “what do I need to do to access the Asian market” or “how can I get smarter about my packaging?” - are among the types of phone calls IDOs receive every week.
The SA Food Centre works with a range of businesses to advise on improving supply chain processes, business and marketing expertise, increased investment, improved quality and safety systems and innovative ways to improve manufacturing systems. Help is available to many industries - from local bakers to bigger exporters - and can give advice on how to take the next step.
